Notes From The Inventor: Why I Spent Six Years Reinventing The Ice Cube Tray

Hi, I'm Stan Wagner, inventor and owner of FlipCubes™.

Like millions of people, I got tired of fighting with outdated ice cube trays that have been the same since the 1970s.

Filling ice trays without spilling water, twisting and cracking and banging on them to loosen the cubes, and watching ice go flying across the kitchen floor had somehow become a normal part of making ice.

Maybe you've felt the same frustration.

Most people simply accepted it.

I didn't.

I believed there had to be a better way.

So, around 2020 I set out to solve a problem that generations of families had simply learned to live with.

Most people saw an ordinary ice cube tray.

I saw a problem worth solving.

What began as a simple idea turned into a six-year journey of designing, testing, refining, and starting over again.

Prototype after prototype brought me one step closer to the solution I had imagined.

Six years later, my persistence paid off! After countless prototypes, refinements, and lessons learned, I finally created the solution I had been searching for.

The result is FlipCubes™: a patented, American-made ice cube tray featuring a unique spill-resistant lid and easy flip-release design that makes ice-making cleaner, simpler, and more enjoyable.

But I didn't invent FlipCubes™ because I wanted to sell another kitchen gadget.

I invented it because I refused to believe that "good enough" was good enough.

My mission was simple: create a better way to make ice for families everywhere.

That mission still guides everything we do today.
